La Ligne Fine – Institute: launch of a new independent think tank dedicated to sovereignty, politics and major contemporary issues
A new independent think tank, La Ligne Fine – Institut, is officially born. Founded by Alek Umont, a young graduate with a Master’s degree in International Relations, the Institute’s mission is to produce and disseminate rigorous and hard-hitting analyses on the strategic issues of the twenty-first century.
An independent and ambitious project
La Ligne Fine – Institut was born from an observation: the public debate often lacks depth and rigour in the treatment of major strategic issues. The Institute intends to fill this void by combining intellectual rigour and freedom of tone, in accordance with its motto:
« The precision of the content, the insolence of the form. »
Five thematic areas to cover the strategic field
The Institute is structured around five areas of reflection :
- International Relations, Defence and Security
- Politics, Economics and Democracy
- Health, Society and Inclusion
- Technologies, innovations and digital technology
- Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development
Each division will regularly produce strategic notes, opinion pieces, educational memos, maps, interviews and thematic notebooks, in order to enlighten public decision-makers, the media and citizens.
A complementarity with La Ligne Fine Editions
The Institute is part of a wider ecosystem, in synergy with La Ligne Fine – Éditions, an independent publishing house in the process of being founded. Éditions publishes strategic essays, collective works and major translations, thus extending the think tank’s work over the long term.
An open collective adventure
La Ligne Fine – Institut is an association under the law of 1901 based on the commitment of its founding members, its volunteer contributors, and its partners. The Institute is open to researchers, journalists, students, professionals and citizens wishing to contribute to independent, constructive and ambitious reflection.
